पाराशर (संस्कृत: पराशर; आईएएसटी: पाराशर) एक महर्षि और कई प्राचीन भारतीय ग्रंथों के लेखक थे। उन्हें पहले पुराण, विष्णु पुराण के लेखक के रूप में मान्यता प्राप्त है, इससे पहले उनके पुत्र व्यास ने इसे अपने वर्तमान रूप में लिखा था। वह शक्ति महर्षि के पुत्र वशिष्ठ के पौत्र थे। ऐसे कई ग्रंथ हैं जो पराशर को एक लेखक/वक्ता के रूप में संदर्भित करते हैं। आधुनिक विद्वानों का मानना है कि ऐसे कई व्यक्ति थे जिन्होंने पूरे समय इस नाम का इस्तेमाल किया, जबकि अन्य का दावा है कि एक ही पाराशर ने इन विभिन्न ग्रंथों को पढ़ाया और उन्हें लिखने का समय अलग-अलग था। वास्तविक ऋषि ने स्वयं कभी ग्रंथों को नहीं लिखा [उद्धरण वांछित]; उनके लिए जिम्मेदार विभिन्न ग्रंथ पाराशर के अपने छात्र के वक्ता होने के संदर्भ में दिए गए हैं……….
Parashara (Sanskrit: पराशर; IAST: Parāśara) was a maharishi and the author of many ancient Indian texts. He is accredited as the author of the first Purana, the Vishnu Purana before his son Vyasa wrote it in its present form. He was the grandson of Vasishtha, the son of Śakti Maharṣi. There are several texts which give reference to Parashara as an author/speaker. Modern scholars believe that there were many individuals who used this name throughout time whereas others assert that the same Parashara taught these various texts and the time of writing them varied. The actual sage himself never wrote the texts[citation needed]; the various texts attributed to him are given in reference to Parashara being the speaker to his student…………

जब पराशर के पिता, शक्ति महर्षि वशिष्ठ के अन्य पुत्रों के साथ राजा कलमाशपाद द्वारा खाए जाने के बाद मर गए, वशिष्ठ ने आत्महत्या करके अपना जीवन समाप्त करने का सहारा लिया। इसलिए वह मेरु पर्वत से कूद गया लेकिन नरम कपास पर उतरा, वह केवल अहानिकर रहने के लिए जंगल की आग में प्रवेश कर गया, फिर वह समुद्र में कूद गया जिसने उसे किनारे कर बचाया। फिर वह उफनती विपास नदी में कूद गया, जिसने उसे भी किनारे कर दिया। फिर उसने हैमावत नदी में छलांग लगा दी, जो उसके डर से कई दिशाओं में भाग गई और उसका नाम सतद्रु रखा गया। फिर जब वह अपनी शरण में लौटा तो उसने अपनी बहू को गर्भवती देखा। जब एक पुत्र का जन्म हुआ तो उसने अपने पिता के रूप में कार्य किया और इसलिए अपने जीवन को नष्ट करने के बारे में पूरी तरह से भूल गया।
इसलिए, बच्चे का नाम पराशर रखा गया, जिसका अर्थ है मृतकों को जीवित करने वाला…….
When Parashara’s father, Sakti Maharishi died after being devoured by king Kalmashapada along with Vashistha’s other sons, Vashistha resorted to ending his life by suicide. Hence he jumped from Mount Meru but landed on soft cotton, he entered a forest fire only to remain unharmed, then he jumped into the ocean who saved him by casting him ashore. Then he jumped in the overflowing river Vipasa, which also left him ashore. Then he jumped into the river Haimavat, which fled in several directions from his fear and was named Satadru. Then when he returned to his asylum, he saw his daughter-in-law pregnant. When a son was born he acted as his father and hence forgot completely about destroying his life.
Hence, the child was named Parashara which meant enlivener of the dead……….
