‘भविष्यपुराण’ भारतीय वाङ्मयमें पुराणोंका एक विशिष्ट स्थान है। इनमें वेदके निगूढ अर्थोका स्पष्टीकरण तो है ही, कर्मकाण्ड, उपासनाकाण्ड तथा ज्ञानकाण्डके सरलतम विस्तारके साथ-साथ कथावैचित्र्यके द्वारा साधारण जनताको भी गूढ-से-गूढ़तम तत्त्वको हृदयङ्गम करा देनेकी अपनी अपूर्व विशेषता भी है। इस युगमें धर्मकी रक्षा और भक्तिके मनोरम विकासका जो यत्किंचित् दर्शन हो रहा है, उसका समस्त श्रेय पुराण-साहित्यको ही है। वस्तुतः भारतीय संस्कृति और साधनाके क्षेत्रमें कर्म, ज्ञान और भक्तिका मूल स्रोत वेद या श्रुतिको ही माना गया है। वेद अपौरुषेय, नित्य और स्वयं भगवानकी शब्दमयी मूर्ति हैं। स्वरूपतः वे भगवान के साथ अभिन्न है, परंतु अर्थकी दृष्टि से वेद अत्यन्त दुरूह भी हैं।

‘Bhavishpurana’ is a special place of Puranas in Indian poetry. In this, there is an explanation of Vedas, the simple meaning of rituals, along with the simplest extension of rituals, worship, and knowledge, as well as its unique feature of making the ordinary people heart-to-heart with the help of Kathavacharya. In this era, all the credit for the protection of religion and the beautiful development of the devotees of the devotees, which is being done, is due to the Puranas and literature. In fact, in the field of Indian culture and practice, the primary source of karma, knowledge and devotion is considered to be the Vedas or Shrutikos. The Vedas are apaurusheya, continual, and a literal idol of God himself. He is integral with God in nature, but in terms of meaning, Vedas are also very difficult.
